I’ve talked a few times on here about the Will Guidara’s fantastic book “ Unreasonable Hospitality”. On a recent podcast with Rory Vaden, Will took one of the concepts from his book and unpacked it in a way that I found to be very insightful.

To understand what he said, you need to know Will’s “Hot Dog Story”, which he explains in this short video:

The hot dog was the easy part, but uncovering that opportunity was the real gold. On the podcast with Rory, Will put it this way:

“Don’t treat them like a commodity. I could have given them a fancy bottle of champagne at a much higher cost and yet and it would have had far less effect.”

It wasn’t about the cost or the monetary value; it was treating them as individuals. “One size fits all” works for a lot of things, but “one size fits one” is the way to really make an impact.
