Remarkable people count their blessings

1 min readOct 10, 2025

In reading Guy Kawasaki’s book “Think Remarkable” (which I talked a lot about yesterday), he shared many traits of the truly remarkable people in our world. They all exhibit growth, grit, and grace, but there was a big part of grace that really stood out to him — counting their blessings.

From the book:

“Everyone I interviewed for Remarkable People counted their blessings even when their blessings were few and their difficulties were numerous. Everyone.

It can be easy to let blessings simply slip by, so it’s important to pay attention to them. Many books talk about having a gratitude practice as part of your daily routine, and I also like to notice the seemingly mundane around me.

For me, water is one I try to focus on. You mean I can just turn a knob and get 100% fresh water, at any temperature that I want? And I have like four of those knobs in my house? And it costs very close to zero every time I do it? And it never runs out? Are you kidding me? 99% of humans that have ever lived (and billions living now) would be astonished, and it’s too easy to take it for granted.

Guy has interviewed hundreds of amazing people on his podcast, and all of them counted their blessings. All of them. Check out his book or his podcast to dig in further.
